Hey Sis? Did you know that 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime? (For my male followers, Men can be diagnosed too). (Source: nationalbreastcancer.org)
With that being said, we need to make sure that we are paying attention to our bodies and reveal to our doctors any changes that we may notice. Early detection is key and we can do this by performing monthly breast self examinations. There area many resources that show you how to perform self exams. Let’s do our best to make sure we are taking care of our selves. We have work we want to do and work that needs to be done and our health is a major factor in reaching our goals and our being around to enjoy life with our family and friends.
As always I like to add a personal touch because I want you to know you are not alone.
My story: My grandmother died from breast cancer when I was 8 years old. I vaguely remember her passing but I do know how empty I felt and still feel to this day because of her absence. One of my mom’s close friends was diagnosed with breast cancer, to see her come out as a survivor is inspiring. I have many friends who have lost mothers, aunts, sisters and other family members to the disease or have had to pay particular attention to their health because of test results.
I say all of that to say, you are not alone in the journey sis. We are here for you. If you need to make the appointment. Put the reminder on your calendar to perform your monthly exam. Find an accountability partner or become an advocate for the cause.
Your Health is important Sis. Someone needs to hear your story. 💋
